Can Endometrial Cancer be Prevented?
Cancers of the lining of the uterus are classified into two main groups in terms of the way they develop and how they present. The first group of tumors are tumors that develop on the basis of unbalanced estrogen stimulation, and when relatively risk groups are identified and the risk of which women are at risk of developing lining of the uterus cancer according to these risk groups is determined, management methods can be determined according to the clinic, and it is possible to diagnose them very early and treat them without impairing the patient's life expectancy and quality. The incidence of this group of tumors is more common in women:
- Early onset of menstruation and late menopause,
- Not having children (in the absence of pregnancy, the lining of the uterus is more exposed to estrogen only),
- Presence of obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome,
- Women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS),
- Women with estrogen-secreting tumors in the ovaries,
The incidence of the second group of intrauterine cancers is not related to the condition of women with the above-mentioned characteristics. The occurrence of these tumors is mostly due to genetic differences (such as P53 gene defects). In addition, the prognosis of these tumors is worse than that of the first group of tumors caused by the above-mentioned characteristics.
